And even when Chizuru does, it's first just with: ]
i think it is better if you tell her if that is alright with you
[ The last thing she wants to do is screw up this entire idea before the picnic itself even happens, after all. Communicating through Jinx's Omen feels-- safer, really. It's like having a useful filter that will take away anything in Chizuru's words that could be hurtful without her realising it. ]
i will bring food though if you have any requests you can let me know
[ It's the least she can do, right.. ]
you can also pick an activity though maybe it might be better to focus on the picnic itself
[ Because-- well, what if it all goes wrong right away? Chizuru wouldn't want poor Mr. Bananas to waste all his effort on planning something else that might not even happen. She'd feel so bad for the little monkey. ]
It feels like being stuck between a rock and a hard place - like, no matter what she does, she'll do the wrong thing here. Because the Omen really is making it sound like it'd be much better if Chizuru were to tell Jinx herself, and like Jinx will continue to be very sad if she doesn't tell Jinx herself.
On the other hand, telling Jinx herself is such a big risk. Even over text, she could write and send the wrong thing. She could end up making Jinx feel even worse.
Damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. Either way, she's the thing making Jinx sad.
(But she already knew that, didn't she? Isn't that why she's been feeling around with this heavy feeling ever since their talk? No matter what she does, she can only make Jinx sad.) ]
no i really would like you to tell her instead thank you and i am very sorry
[ It still feels awful. But if she has to choose from two bad options, it feels like this is the relatively safer one, where she at least can't make things worse before they even have this picnic. ]
( if a monkey could frown, he would. it makes him so sad how messy this situation gotten. an omen sigh. )
I will tell her.
( he will respect her wishes, of course and goes off to do so. and maybe that seems like to be the end of their conversation. there seems to be a good amount of silence. that is until: )
hey. thnx for wanting to come to this. im looking forward to it. ill bring the best tunes! see u there, ok? π
[ At first Chizuru assumes it's just the little monkey coming back to add something - maybe a request for some specific kind of food, or some other important detail..
But then she sees the message herself, and-- well, that's definitely not Mr. Bananas. Unless he's faking it and signing it with Jinx's name, but Chizuru doesn't believe he'd do that. There would be no point to it.
It makes it scarier to send a message when Chizuru is so scared of screwing up. It'd be one thing to accidentally screw up with Jinx's Omen, since the little creature seems so understanding, but Jinx is so fragile. She's dealing with so much. A slip up there would be way worse.
Which means Chizuru panics. Not enough to never reply, since she wouldn't forgive herself for that, but there's so much fussing about what to even write back. She writes stuff, deletes it, rewrites it, deletes it again..
She probably ends up showing the message she's written to someone else first to make absolutely sure it's as inoffensive as possible before she actually sends anything back. ]
thank you for inviting me i promise i will be there i will see you then
[ Of course she's still worried about the message she sent all the same - it's Chizuru, after all. It'll probably haunt her thoughts for the rest of the day, desperately hoping she did the right thing here. ]
ure welcome! its going to be at the beach btw. we'll txt u the time later. π -jinx.
( that should be enough, right? she doesn't want to overdo it with the texting (as much as she would love to just sit here and text). baby steps, she reminds herself. and thanks to chizuru, she taught her patience and is getting pretty use to the concept of it. )
